The Company

Q. How long has Travel CUTS been around?
A. Since 1969. We have more than 30 years experience serving our customers' needs. Our relationships with our customers and suppliers continue to strengthen as we grow.

Q. Why would I want to work for Travel CUTS as opposed to another travel company?
A. We are unlike any other travel company. The work environment is casual and friendly. Every day is different and rewarding. The travel opportunities are awesome. Your co-workers are energetic and motivated, relish taking on challenges, and love their jobs. If this sounds like what you're looking for, why work for anyone else?

Q. What does it take to be a Travel CUTS travel consultant?
A. Passion for travel. Sense of humour. Pride in service. Being young or young at heart. You also need a good education: the post-secondary kind or the "seen the world" kind — or both.

Travel Experience

Q. Do I need to have a diploma/degree in Travel and Tourism before being considered for a career with Travel CUTS?
A. In the past we looked for this type of training, but since we now have an excellent in-house training centre in place, we are able to hire people who aren't travel school graduates. If you don't have travel school training, then we look at things like your sales and travel experience. And remember, we consider a genuine love of adventure and a great personality key assets.

Q. Do I need previous work experience in the travel industry to be considered?
A. No, but we do like to see sales experience and a love of the type of travel that Travel CUTS specializes in: adventurous and free-spirited.

Q. What if I haven't really travelled anywhere outside North America?
A. Having seasoned road warriors in our offices is key to helping our customers better-and it gives us the credibility that keeps them coming back. But if your love of travel is genuine and you've only travelled a bit, we could still talk. Your outstanding personality and service skills could sway us.

Development

Q. What kind and levels of training do you offer?
A.You'll have regular opportunities to update your skills and knowledge through the ongoing seminars and sales training courses we offer. All our managers and sales consultants get together once a year for an exciting training forum. Last but not least, the company will also fund outside work-related courses that you might want to take to enhance your skills.

Q. What career advancement opportunities does Travel CUTS offer me?
A. Excellent ones. We are a company that prefers to recruit its managers, Head Office staff and support staff employees from within our own ranks.

Q. What kind of support system do you have for travel sales consultants?
A. We have a help desk headquartered in our Head Office that can answer almost any question related to making customer bookings. If the friendly folk here cannot answer the question, they know who can.

Q. What is the working environment like?
A. Fun, exciting, challenging, rewarding! Our company culture is focussed on supporting our most important asset-our employees.

Q. How much interaction will I get with staff from other offices and regions?
A. Sharing experiences and ideas is important! We organize many get-togethers and outings during the year for staff from the various offices within a city. Many of these are for training purposes; others are stress relievers or just plain fun activities. At the regional level we hold an annual training forum that allows plenty of time for interaction. We also send delegates from the various regions to attend the regional meetings of other regions. Our "familiarization" trips have Travel CUTS employees from coast to coast travelling all over the world together.

Q. What is the social environment like?
A. We work within a very open social environment. In many offices the employees go out together regularly after work-and by that we mean all the employees. It is not uncommon to see our newest sales consultant enjoying a drink with the office or regional manager or even the company president at a social gathering.

Benefits

Q. What is your incentive plan?
A. We have a comprehensive incentive plan that recognizes excellent performance based on individual sales results. The payouts on these programs can be significant, and they are very popular with our consultants.

Q. What do you mean by discounted or free travel?
A.Travel CUTS provides an annual travel allowance to increase your familiarity and expertise in a variety of destinations. Bon voyage!

Q. Can you tell me more about your comprehensive health plan?
A. We have an excellent plan underwritten by Great-West Life. It includes extensive medical, drug, dental, and short and long-term disability coverage, as well as life insurance. The plan covers both our employees and all their dependent family members.

Locations

Q. Where can I find my closest Travel CUTS office?
