1. Why do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance can be your most important purchase.
No one plans to have an accident or incident. But if something happens,
the results could have serious financial implications. For example,
treating some injuries or illness, even seemingly small ones, can have
a significant financial cost when you’re travelling anywhere outside
your home province. If something as simple as a change to your exam
schedule happens, insurance can mean the difference between being
covered for a new ticket or not. No one who was in a serious accident
overseas thought it would happen to them-insurance is your safety net just in case.
2. What are the benefits of getting Trip Cancellation/Interruption coverage?
Trip Cancellation/Interruption will protect you from costs
arising if you have to cancel, delay, or interrupt your trip due to serious illness of either yourself,
someone travelling with you, or a close family member.
You’re also covered if you have to cancel or cut short your travels for reasons
including being called for jury service, exam schedule changes, acts of terrorism
or government issued travel advisories, or the failure of a travel supplier
(with some limitations).
You’re also covered for up to $150 towards out-of-pocket expenses for certain
flight delays, and catch-up costs of up to $1500 in some cases if you miss a connection.
3. What if the value of my trip exceeds the maximum Trip Cancellation/Interruption coverage I am able to purchase online?
You are covered to a maximum of $5000 when you purchase Plan A or Plan B. You are covered to a maximum of $3000 when you purchase Plan C.
4. What are the benefits of getting Medical/Personal Accident coverage?
Your provincial health coverage is limited, and will not cover all the expenses that you could incur as the result of an accident when travelling out of province. Bon Voyage™ covers up to $1,000,000 for emergency medical or hospital expenses, including up to $1500 for emergency dental expenses. It also covers the cost of someone else travelling to join you or stay with you if you are injured. Bon Voyage™ also covers up to $50,000 in the case of accidental death (including in flight), or loss of limb, sight, or permanent total disablement while travelling.
