Day: Description:
1 Cairns:
Wander this tropical town.
2 Daintree N.P./ Cooktown:
Travel through sugarcane fields along the Marlin Coast. Catch a cable ferry across the Daintree River and plant a tree to help shelter the endangered cassowary at Jindalba National park. Cross rivers and creeks to a remote Indigenous community and learn about bush tucker and medicinal plants on a walk to Bloomfield Falls. Meet locals at an outback pub in Australia's most historic gold rush town.
3 Jowalbinna:
Tackle rough and ready roads through cattle country. Bushwalk to a famous gallery of ancient rock art paintings that is also a haven for outback wildlife. Local guides will explain the importance of these artworks for local Indigenous communities, as well as describing the lifestyles of the artists who painted them. End the day with a refreshing dip in a bush creek as families of bush wallabies bounce around the campsite. Feast on a home-cooked meal and relax by the campfire under a blanket of stars.
4 Cairns:
Awake to the sound of laughing kookaburras. After breakfast in the bush, create your very own masterpiece under the guidance of local Jowalbinna artists, or try boomerang throwing. Cross the Great Dividing Range and witness the landscape shift between extremes: the termite mounds and cattle country give way to lush, rainforest-blanketed mountains. Reaching the coast, the trip concludes in Cairns.
