Arrive in San José at any time. |

La Fortuna/Arenal:
Drive through the mountains to La Fortuna, at the foot of Arenal Volcano. Take an unforgettable hike around the base of the still-active Arenal Volcano, accompanied by the sounds of monkeys in the trees above and the distant rumbling of the volcano. Optional activities include white water rafting, horseback riding, a tour of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge or a relaxing soak in lush cascading hot springs. |

Monteverde:
Travel by van, boat and mountain bike along the lakefront to the cool mountain air of Monteverde. Spend a couple of days exploring the town and a Cloud Forest Reserve, a true bird lover's paradise. Optional activities include the Sky Walk hanging bridges; a butterfly garden (cooler than it sounds!) and a thrilling canopy zip line. |

Playa Hermosa:
Learn to surf at the Zopilote Surf Camp, located on Playa Hermosa de Cobano, on the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Learn or hone your skills at both hidden and well-known spots—there are excellent waves for beginners and pros alike. |

Squeeze in a morning surf before taking a local bus back to San José. Arrive in the evening, in time to head out for one final night on the town. |
